Two offers for a 2-year Postdoctoral Fellow position in Neuroscience is available in the research team “Navigation, Memory and Aging” at University Pierre & Marie Curie (UPMC), located in the center of Paris. The host laboratory is affiliated to UPMC, CNRS, labex “Biopsy” and to the « Paris School of Neuroscience » network of excellence.
Position 1 (available september 2013): In vivo electrophysiologist
The proposed project is focused on the functional interaction between the
cerebellum and the hippocampal system during spatial navigation.
The team has recently demonstrated that cerebellar long-term depression
is required for the formation of an optimal spatial map in the hippocampus
(Rochefort et al., Science, 2011). The candidate will further analyze this
functional interaction by recording hippocampal and parahippocampal cortices
activity during navigation in transgenic mice lacking cerebellar LTD.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual. A strong background and
training in multi-electrode recordings (place cells and LFP) on
behaving mice is required. Expertise in signals processing and/or grid
cells recording would be an added value. Letter of interest, CV,
list of publications and contact information for two references
should be addressed to
Dr Laure Rondi-Reig.
Position 2 (available september 2013): mice behavior
The general aim of this project is to further investigate
the role of PKR and danger molecules in the pathogenesis of
Alzheimer disease (AD). It will evaluate the usefulness of PKR pathway
and danger molecules as early biomarkers of AD and a potential therapeutic
target. It combines the complementary expertise of 4 research groups and
is supported by an ANR MALZ program. The candidate will have
to evaluate memory abilities of mice following genetic manipulations.
A strong background in the domain of memory is required.
The candidates need to have a validated expertise in mice behavior,
particularly in the evaluation of learning and memory.
Behavior analysis is done thanks to the use of a Matlab program designed in the lab.
Knowledge in programming will therefore be a strong added value.
